Official Challenge Rules & Payout Policy

Official Challenge Rules & Payout Policy

Effective Date: July 2026

This Official Challenge Rules & Payout Policy (“Policy”) governs all fitness challenges created through Arin. By creating, joining, or participating in any challenge, you agree to this Policy, the Arin Terms & Conditions, and the Arin Privacy Policy.

In the event of any conflict between this Policy and the Arin Terms & Conditions, this Official Challenge Rules & Payout Policy shall govern all matters relating to challenge participation, verification, commitment funds, payouts, and challenge outcomes.

1. Challenge Types

Arin is a fitness accountability platform that allows users to create challenges based on measurable fitness activity.

Supported challenge metrics currently include:

  • Steps

  • Active Calories Burned

  • Distance

Additional challenge metrics may be introduced in future updates.

Arin currently supports:

  • Solo Challenges

  • Friend Challenges

  • Multiplayer Challenges

2. Creating a Challenge

Each user may have one active challenge at a time.

When creating a challenge, the creator selects:

  • Challenge metric

  • Goal

  • Commitment amount

  • Challenge duration

  • Challenge start time

Challenges must begin within 24 hours of creation.

The challenge creator may choose a start time immediately or schedule the challenge to begin later within the 24-hour window.

Once the scheduled start time arrives, the challenge officially begins.

No participant may join after the challenge has started.

3. Cancelling a Challenge

A challenge may be cancelled only before its scheduled start time.

If a challenge is cancelled before it begins:

  • Participants will not participate in the challenge.

  • Commitment amounts will not be subject to challenge rules.

Once a challenge has started:

  • The creator cannot cancel the challenge.

  • Participants cannot withdraw from the challenge.

4. Commitment Amounts & Platform Fees

Each participant contributes their own commitment amount.

Current commitment limits are:

  • Minimum: 30

  • Maximum: 300

The applicable currency is displayed during checkout and may vary depending on the participant’s region.

In addition to the commitment amount, Arin charges a separate platform fee at checkout.

Platform fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law.

5. Challenge Verification

Challenge completion is verified using live photos captured directly within the Arin application and other supported verification methods.

Arin does not accept uploaded screenshots or images from a user’s photo library.

Verification may be completed through:

  • Manual review

  • Automated verification systems

  • A combination of both

Users may submit verification multiple times before the challenge deadline.

Participants are responsible for ensuring that submitted verification is:

  • Authentic

  • Accurate

  • Complete

  • Clearly visible

Arin reserves the right to:

  • Request additional verification

  • Reject incomplete submissions

  • Reject manipulated or fraudulent submissions

  • Reject unverifiable submissions

  • Delay verification while additional review is conducted

6. Challenge Deadlines

Every challenge has a fixed end date and time.

Challenge deadlines are determined using the time zone selected by the challenge creator.

A challenge deadline is final.

Verification submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

Participants who fail to submit verification before the deadline automatically fail the challenge.

Missing a goal by any amount, including a single step, calorie, or unit of distance, is considered an incomplete challenge.

7. Solo Challenges

For Solo Challenges:

If the participant successfully completes every challenge requirement:

  • Their commitment amount will be returned following the applicable holding period.

If the participant fails to complete the challenge:

  • Their commitment amount remains locked for 30 days before being returned to the original payment method.

8. Friend & Multiplayer Challenges

Each participant contributes their own commitment amount.

A participant is considered a Winner only if they successfully complete every challenge requirement.

A participant who fails to complete any challenge requirement is considered to have failed the challenge.

If every participant successfully completes the challenge:

  • Every participant receives their own commitment amount back.

  • No additional payouts are made.

If one or more participants fail:

The commitment amounts of participants who failed the challenge are divided equally among every participant who successfully completed the challenge.

If every participant fails:

No winners are declared.

Each participant’s commitment amount remains locked for 30 days before being returned to the original payment method.

A participant who voluntarily withdraws after the challenge begins is considered to have failed the challenge.

9. Payouts

Eligible payouts are generally initiated within 1–3 business days following:

  • Successful challenge verification

  • Completion of any required manual review

  • Resolution of any outstanding appeals

Actual payment timing may vary depending on Stripe, banking institutions, or other payment providers.

Arin is not responsible for delays caused by payment processors or financial institutions.

10. Appeals

Participants may appeal a challenge decision within 48 hours of receiving their challenge result.

During an appeal:

  • Payouts may be temporarily paused.

  • Manual review may occur.

  • Additional verification may be requested.

Following review, Arin’s decision is final.

11. Fraud & Fair Play

To maintain fair competition, participants may not:

  • Submit false verification

  • Submit manipulated or altered images

  • Attempt to deceive verification systems

  • Use another person’s activity or verification

  • Exploit software bugs or technical issues

  • Use bots, automation, or unauthorized software

  • Circumvent challenge rules or payment systems

Violation of these rules may result in:

  • Challenge failure

  • Loss of payout eligibility

  • Suspension of the account

  • Permanent account termination

  • Reversal of payouts obtained through fraud where permitted by applicable law

12. Technical Issues

If a verified technical issue outside of a participant’s reasonable control affects challenge integrity, Arin may, at its sole discretion:

  • Extend verification deadlines

  • Request additional verification

  • Delay challenge results

  • Reimburse commitment amounts

  • Void a challenge

  • Return commitment amounts to participants

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Platform outages

  • Verification failures

  • Payment processing failures

  • Significant technical errors affecting challenge fairness

13. Challenge Integrity

Arin reserves the right to investigate any challenge where fraud, abuse, technical issues, or suspicious activity is suspected.

During an investigation, Arin may:

  • Delay verification

  • Pause payouts

  • Request additional evidence

  • Suspend accounts

  • Void challenges

  • Reverse payouts obtained through fraudulent activity where permitted by law

14. Future Updates

Arin may modify challenge formats, verification procedures, payout methods, supported metrics, commitment limits, and other challenge features as the platform evolves.

Changes generally apply only to future challenges and will not affect challenges that have already begun unless required by law or necessary to maintain platform integrity.
