Terms & Conditions
Last updated
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using the Arin application. By accessing or using Arin, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. About Arin
Arin is a fitness accountability platform that allows users to set fitness goals, invite friends to join challenges, and commit a financial entry fee to those challenges. Users who successfully complete their goals receive a share of the challenge pool. Arin operates as a skill-based contest platform — outcomes are determined entirely by the effort and performance of participants, not by chance.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account and participate in challenges. By using Arin, you confirm that you meet this requirement. Arin is currently available to residents of Canada and the United States. Availability may vary by province or state based on applicable laws.
3. Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information when registering. Arin reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent activity.
4. Challenges and Entry Fees
Challenges on Arin require each participant to commit a minimum entry fee of $10. The amount is agreed upon by the group before the challenge begins. All entry fees are held by Arin in a platform-managed pool for the duration of the challenge. Arin is not a bank and these funds are not insured deposits.
At the conclusion of a challenge, the pool is distributed to participants who successfully completed their goals, after deduction of a 15% platform fee. Participants who do not complete their goals forfeit their entry fee to the pool. Challenge outcomes are determined solely by verified fitness data synced from connected devices.
5. Skill-Based Contest
All challenges on Arin are skill-based contests. The outcome of any challenge is determined entirely by the physical effort and performance of participants as measured by connected fitness devices. Arin does not involve games of chance, gambling, or wagering as defined under applicable law. It is your responsibility to verify that participation in financial fitness challenges complies with the laws of your jurisdiction.
6. Device Verification and Data Accuracy
Challenge completion is verified through data synced from Apple HealthKit and compatible third-party devices including Apple Watch, Whoop, and Garmin. Arin relies on the accuracy and timeliness of data provided by these devices and platforms. We are not responsible for data sync delays, inaccuracies in third-party device readings, or failure of connected devices to record activity. In the event of a verified technical error on Arin's part, we will review disputes on a case-by-case basis.
7. Payments and Payouts
Payments are processed through Stripe. By participating in a challenge, you authorize Arin to charge your payment method for the agreed entry fee and to distribute payouts to eligible participants. Payouts will be issued to your connected payout method within a reasonable timeframe following challenge completion. Arin reserves the right to withhold payouts pending fraud review.
All fees are stated in Canadian or US dollars depending on your account region. You are responsible for any taxes applicable to amounts you receive through the platform.
8. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to manipulate, falsify, or attempt to game challenge verification through any means, share your account with other users, use automated tools or third-party services to artificially inflate fitness metrics, harass or abuse other users on the platform, or use the platform for any purpose that violates applicable law.
Arin reserves the right to disqualify participants and forfeit entry fees in cases of suspected manipulation or fraud.
9. Limitation of Liability
Arin is provided on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Arin disclaims all warranties, express or implied. Arin shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of funds due to device sync errors, account suspension, or platform downtime.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of Arin shall not exceed the total entry fees paid by you in the 30 days preceding the claim.
10. Dispute Resolution
Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Arin will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the applicable arbitration body in your jurisdiction, rather than in court. You waive your right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.
11. Modifications
Arin reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the app or email. Continued use of the platform following notice of changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles.
